Dennis “Rollin D” Gale (Bass & Vocals) is best known as the bass player with Rockinitis for some 12 years. During this time the band played support for greats such as Albert King, Canned Heat, Charlie & the Night Cats, Rod Piazza & were the backing band for Big Bad Smitty at the 1994 East Coast Blues Festival. Rollin D, loves his Rock-a-Billy, but this cat can sing in any style.
Glenn “Woody” Woodmansey (Drums)
Has been developing his unique drumming style since his first gig in the
British Phosphate Club at Nauru, age 11. Woody has appeared on
television on “The Gerry Gibson Show” & “The Junior Swallows”
in the sixties. He spent the next 15 years at night clubs, backing
artists from Australia and Overseas, including the late great jazz
guitarist Jean Cretian. Woody has performed concerts with some of
Australia’s elite musicians including Don Burrows, George Golla &
Ed Wilson. He brings his
own particular flavour to Mr Kokomo, injecting rhythmic excitement.
Working closely with the bassline he utilises a well seasoned technique
to pocket and drive the musical groove.
Paul Brady (Keyboards)
Has worked with many well known entertainers including Phil & Tommy
Emmanuel, Jim Barnes & was a member of Swannee, John Swan’s band.
His own band The Bentleys, was a busy session band in Tamworth recording
with too many acts to note here. The Bentleys also recorded their own
albums, & Paul has a solo album titled “Songs from the Lizard
Swamp”. He currently teaches music at TAFE, & holds office of
President of North Coast Entertainment Industry Association. He is such a
polished player he glows! he can play in any style, from Jazz to boogie
woogie & excels in the New Orleans feel. He is the newest spice in
the band, & is just what the chef was looking for!
Peter
“Scrubby” Hurcombe
(Guitar & Vocals) has been kicking around the music scene for 30
years or more, & has developed a reputation amongst guitar players
& the public, as a fine slide guitar player. Early in 1995 he
released his first album “Home Cooking” which received air play on
many FM radio stations across the country, after which many people wrote
for copies of the album. In New Zealand, the Blues society gave it a
very favourable reception, & wrote a glowing report in their
national magazine. Scrubby is the
alchemist of the band, & is ecstatic with the current line up.
Dave Kolb
(Harmonica & Vocals) Originally from the land of California, Dave
brings with him his southern Californian influences as well as others
collected along the way. He was the long term harmonica player with the
Dynaflow Blues Band, however, Dave has cut himself a niche with many
other musicians such as Gregg Gardner, where he can be heard on Gregg’s
1995 recorded album “Steel on Wheels,” which was successful in
several categories at the 1995 NCEIA Dolphin awards. When the band requires that “real authentic hard edged Blues feel”, Dave is the man to have on deck. Scrubby & Dave have the connection when it come to the Blues, & there isn’t many duos around that can match these two for the authentic blues thing when they get down to it.
